Annie Mac
Born and bred in Dublin to a
family immersed in musicality, Annie
left home at 17 to attend Queens
University in Belfast, where she was
bitten by the clubbing bug after
visiting the city's legendary Shine
club nights. Inspired to purchase
her first set of decks, Annie taught
herself to mix using old funk and
soul records bought from local
charity shops. Following a stint as
part of Shine's marketing team and
four months living in Manhattan,
Annie made the move to London,
working simultaneously as a TV and
Radio plugger, a freelance
Broadcasting Assistant and a
presenter for the SBN, before she
approached Radio 1. Initially
employed as a BA, her natural flair
got her noticed by management and
she was soon standing in for Mary
Anne Hobbs.
Annie's show on Radio 1 began in
July 2004, when, working as a
assistant producer on Zane Lowe's
show, she impressed Radio 1 bosses
with her demos and her
determination.
Since then her show has gone from
strength to strength. Annie Mac's
show on Friday nights on Radio 1 has
attracted a host of loyal followers
from around the world and sees her
play the cutting-edge dance music
which she has become known for.
Annie has established herself firmly
as part of Radio 1's specialist
output.
Annie is also a talented club DJ and
is booked regularly to play the UKs
most credible clubs. Annie has just
completed her annual DJ tour 'Annie
Mac Presents' which she has hosted
for 3 years running. Annie
personally chooses the line-up of
DJs for her tour, both established
and up-and-coming to play in her
favourite clubs across the UK. 2009
has seen Annie DJ at more festivals
than ever, plus regular dates in
Ibiza and around the world.
Her TV work has seen Annie
contribute regularly to BBC2's The
Culture show, reviewing new music
releases. She has also done work for
MTV2 presenting 'Gonzo'. In October
2007 Annie helped launch BBC Switch,
the BBC's offering for 12-16 year
olds. It was announced that Annie
would front Switch, a brand new
Sunday night Radio 1 show, and
co-host a new weekly music TV show
'Sound' alongside Nick Grimshaw on
BBC2 every Saturday afternoon.
Since her show began, Annie has gone
from strength to strength, her show
becoming part of the audio fabric of
the nation on a Friday night. From
the end of September 2009, Annie
began to host the prestigious Friday
night 7-9pm slot, taking over from
the legend that is Pete Tong. She
also continues to co-present Switch
with Nick Grimshaw on Sundays from
7-10pm.

Gadjo
He rose to worldwide prominence in
the summer of 2004 when his track
‘So Many Times’ was championed by
Erick Morillo during the summer
season in Ibiza.
Alongside vocalist Alexandra Prince,
Gadjo released his first single
‘Besame Mucho’ in 2002, a latin
house track that enjoyed widespread
success. The follow up was ‘Punk
City’, a joint effort between Gadjo
and Syke of Skye’n’Sugarrstar fame
under the moniker De-Ranged; the
single was signed to Norman Cook’s
Southern Fried Records.
Gadjo and Prince teamed up once
again in 2003 to record ‘So Many
Times’ and it was originally
released in the summer of 2003 on
the small but well-respected German
house label MuschiTunes. The track
found its way into the playlists of
several DJs but did not take off
until Morillo started slotting it
into his sets at Pacha and Space. He
placed it at the top of his personal
charts and it soon found its way
into the hands of other top DJs
including Roger Sanchez, David
Guetta, Tom Novy, Seb Fontaine and
Steve Agnello.
Morillo went one step further and
licensed ‘So Many Times’ to his own
Subliminal imprint. The track got
bigger and bigger, reaching #1 in
the French, Spanish and German dance
charts and rating similarly high in
the Italian, Australian, South
African, British and Portuguese
charts, resulting in Gadjo playing
gigs at some of the finest venues in
the world including Pacha, Cream in
Liverpool, Amnesia in Paris and MAD
in Lausanne.
‘So Many Times’ peaked when the
track received a Best Track
nomination in the 2005 House Music
Awards. Gadjo has remained busy ever
since, completing a swag of remixes
including David Morales’ ‘Better
That You Leave’ and a remake of
Basement Jaxx’s ‘Do Your Thang’
which entered the UK Cool Cuts
Charts at #1.

Hoxton Whores
It's a wonder the Hoxton Whores
have time to eat or sleep
considering they are probably the
busiest duo in dance music! The
coming together of great minds stems
back to when the pair, Gary Dedman
and Kevin Andrews created one of the
UK's biggest and most successful
independent dance music distribution
companies - Essential Direct.
Having the world's upfront music at
their finger tips means they are
always ten steps ahead of the rest.
If you're on a dance floor and the
Hoxton Whores are at the helm -
you'll soon know about it! Their
back catalogue reads like a dance
music bible... their tour diary like
an airline departure board... to put
it simply - the Hoxton Whores are
massive!

Soul Avengerz
Paul Gardner and Wayne O Connell
are no newcomers to the industry,
being an integral part of the London
house scene for over a decade now.
But it is only recently that the
guys have garnered the long overdue,
and much deserved, worldwide
recognition they have been striving
for.
In todays climate most artists carve
out a production profile before
proving themselves as DJ’s. It is
this that often leads to most
artists productions being more dance
floor orientated the more
experienced they become, as they
gain that all important first hand
knowledge of what it takes to rock a
packed dance floor. As DJ’s first
and foremost, Paul and Wayne already
had intimate knowledge of what
worked in the main rooms up and down
the country, so it was a simple case
of applying this knowledge to their
production work, and it is this that
has led to their incredibly fast
rise to fame.
